German genre-benders Crematory seem to have been around since time out of mind, shifting effortlessly from their dark, gothic death metal days in the early 90s to the cultured, mature industrial sound they explored later in their storied career. But will album number 17 be the final stop on the way to the mausoleum? Find out when ‘Destination’ drops on May 2nd via the esteemed ROAR label.
Armed with a video for the title track, the band seem in good spirits, that’s for sure. “It’s a really tough song, but at the same time it has a catchy chorus that drills itself straight into the ear canal and won’t let go,“ the band states. “This song will also be the opener on the tour in May for the “Destination” album. A big punch in the face with a great chorus!”
With a mix of styles in their arsenal to choose from, it looks like ‘Destination’ will feature a bit of everything. “The new studio album s an ingenious mix of the 90s gothic metal times like ‘Illusions’, combined with hard melodic death metal hymns like ‘Act Seven’ and modern electronic songs with German lyrics in the style of ‘Revolution’. More is not possible“, drummer Markus Jüllich says. ”With ‘Destination’ the new standard of the modern melodic gothic metal era is determined! The previous album “Inglorious Darkness” was the start of Felix singing all the songs on his own again and now we’ve managed a perfect precision landing with “Destination”!”
