Dutch symphonic metal masters Delain suffered a huge blow when vocal maven Charlotte Wessels stepped down from the mic, but they came back swinging with their best album in years, 2023’s epic ‘Dark Waters’. Hiring trance vocalist Diana Leah was a great move, but the band formed by ex-Within Temptation keyboard wizard Martijn Westerholt brought out all the big guns for that album, and after a massively successful tour, they wanted to strike while the iron’s hot. Hence ‘Dance With The Devil’, their stunning new EP, which drops November 8th via Napalm Records. The EP features brand new studio tracks, live cuts, and alternative versions, a must-have for die hard fans.
Gripping new single ‘The Reaping’ offers a whirlwind of emotions; articulating foreboding and sorrow through hooky electronic melodies and modern heaviness. Its collective themes express disillusionment with society’s current path toward imminent and inescapable consequences.
Keyboardist, founder, and main songwriter Martijn Westerholt says, “’The Reaping’ is a very expressive song with a serious subject – where the world/society is heading and metaphorical storms on the horizon. Musically the song can be recognized as a typical Delain song filled with heavy guitars, but also with the very recognisable 80’s synth elements the band is known for.”
Delain return to the UK and Ireland from November 15th for seven headline dates. Joining them for all dates will be West Mids rock squad Stone Broken and progressive metal musician Damian Wilson, formerly of UK prog metal crew Threshold. Tickets are on sale now for all dates here.
