AMORPHIS REVISIT A STONE COLD CLASSIC!

|

Amorphis, one of the earliest bands to introduce keyboards in extreme metal, have been around since 1990, and have had one of the most storied careers in Finnish music history. Starting out as a pure death metal band, they raised the game for all extremists with 1994’s ‘Tales From The Thousand Lakes’, a melodic, melancholic voyage of deep growls, clean choruses, chilly synths, and early melo-death riffs that sounds fresh and vital even today. As the 90s wore on, they indulged in jazzy prog rock before having a revival of sorts with 2006’s stunning ‘Eclipse’. Since then, they’ve become one of the most inventive bands working in dark prog metal, with albums like ‘Skyforger’ and ‘Under The Red Cloud’ taking them to new heights.

Exactly 30 years after its original release, the Finnish icons are proud to celebrate the anniversary of their milestone ‘Tales From The Thousand Lakes’ with a unique live edition of the record, which represents an essential collector’s item for every Amorphis connoisseur. The magic of this work, grandly transferred onto the stage of Helsinki, Finland’s Tavastia Club, shows the band in their full glory: powerful, passionate and unforgettable. Tales From The Thousand Lakes (Live At Tavastia)’ is out now via Reigning Phoenix Music (RPM) and can be ordered physically (CD+Blu-ray-digipak or coloured vinyl), digitally or streamed now, here: https://amorphis.rpm.link/taleslivePR.

“‘Into Hiding’ had a working title, ‘Rintamäkeläiset,’ as its opening melody reminds one of an old Finnish TV series,” recalls lead guitarist Esa Holopainen. “The song itself became very popular and is still a crucial part of our setlist. No wonder as it’s a great mixture of an old Finnish TV score, death metal, Arabic vibes, and BLACK SABBATH. And you can’t go wrong with a song that includes a bass guitar solo!”

Indeed not. Watch the live video for  ‘Into Hiding’ right here:
